The First Burn Matters Most

If there's one candle care tip worth remembering, it's this: give your candle enough time during its first burn.

When you light a candle for the first time, allow the melted wax to reach the edges of the container before extinguishing the flame. Depending on the size of the candle, this usually takes a few hours.

This helps create an even wax pool and prevents tunneling, a common issue where the candle burns straight down the center and leaves wax around the sides.

Think of it as setting the foundation for every burn that follows.

Trim the Wick

Before lighting your candle, take a moment to trim the wick to about ¼ inch.

A properly trimmed wick helps create:

• A cleaner burn

• Less soot and smoke

• Better fragrance throw

• A steadier flame

• Longer candle life

It's a small step that makes a big difference.

Give It Time to Shine

Candles perform best when they're allowed to burn long enough to develop a full melt pool.

Rather than lighting a candle for only a few minutes, try to enjoy it for at least a couple of hours when possible. This helps the wax melt evenly and allows the fragrance to fully fill the room.

Keep Away From Drafts

An open window, ceiling fan, or air vent can cause a candle flame to flicker excessively and burn unevenly.

For the best experience, place your candle in a calm area away from drafts. A steady flame creates a cleaner burn and helps your candle last longer.

Keep the Wax Surface Clean

Before each burn, check the surface of the candle and remove any wick trimmings, dust, or debris.

A clean wax surface helps maintain a beautiful appearance while promoting a safe, even burn.

Know When to Say Goodbye

As much as we wish every candle could last forever, there comes a point when it's time for the final burn.

For container candles, discontinue use when approximately ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom. This helps prevent overheating and protects the vessel.

And don't forget, our candle jars can be cleaned and repurposed long after the candle is gone.

Store Candles With Care

Like many handcrafted goods, candles appreciate a little care when they're not in use.

Store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. This helps preserve both fragrance and appearance while keeping them ready for whenever the mood strikes.
